So I've gone back to writing on a old story of mine because I can't stick to anything. I was working on Almost Human, which is a vampire novel, and now I'm back to working on Bad Animals, which is wereanimals. Like I said, I can't stick to anything. I'm even thinking of trying my hand at NaNoWriMo, but I usually fall behind on the second day, and then by the third day I'm going "It's pointless. I'll just stop." Besides, NaNo kinda snuck up on me this year. I forgot about it, and I'd really like to do prep work before it (character charts, outline what the muse will allow me, etc.) Now it's the 30th of October, so I really don't have time for any of that.
However, I think NaNo will just give me another excuse not to finish what I'm working on now. I really don't think I need the distraction.
I didn't realize how close Bad Animals was to being finished when I quit. It's actually kind of sad. But I think that mostly had to do with publisher bullshit I was dealing with at the time. But seriously, it's close to being done. I'm on like the final fight scene. Though, don't get too excited, because this manuscript is one of the WORST first drafts in history. So, bad that I think I'm going to print it out, revise it, and then type it into a blank word document as opposed to correcting it as I go in the previous version.
I know you're probably going "whoa, that sounds tedious and pointless, just correct your draft" but I've found that when I write something down on paper, and then type it up, it changes from something plain to something actually good. So I think it will work out well if I do it the tedious way.
Thankfully, I've already had some ideas about correcting this draft, because for a while I was stumped.
Okay, I'm done blogging now. See you next time. Hopefully next time isn't four months from now.
